About Me

Hi, I'm Kathryn.

I believe education can be both rigorous and deeply human.

For more than 15 years, I have worked alongside educators in classrooms, schools, districts, and teacher preparation programs. My work has included teaching, instructional coaching, educational program leadership, curriculum development, professional learning, and district-level leadership.

Today, I serve as a district leader and university educator while continuing to build work focused on helping educators and educational organizations create more equitable and sustainable practices.

My doctoral research examined how white educators develop and sustain antiracist praxis. That research deepened my understanding of transformation as an ongoing process shaped by reflection, relationships, and the willingness to keep learning.

That perspective continues to shape how I work with educators.

I don't believe meaningful professional learning begins with telling people what to think.

I believe it begins with creating the conditions for people to think more deeply, see more clearly, question more honestly, and act more intentionally.

A few beliefs that shape my work:

Research matters.
Our practice should be informed by what we know (and we know a lot!).

Context matters.
There is no one-size-fits-all solution to complex educational problems.

Relationships matter.
We learn and change in community.

Practice matters.
The goal isn't simply to know more. It's to do something differently because of what we've learned.

People matter.
Educational systems are made of people. Sustainable change has to account for their humanity, too.
